Jenny joined Remix Recovery in November 2024 as a Certified Peer Facilitator and was nominated to Director of Operations for Remix Recovery Groups in February 2025. As a Peer Facilitator, Jenny has helped to establish and run a couple of our support groups, primarily our Thursday evening group in Walnut Creek. Jenny has also been helping with some administrative tasks such as meeting notes, creating flyers, developing a blog, and more. In her role as a Board Member, Jenny works with the team to collaborate on decisions and lead the team of other Certified Peer Facilitators. She was drawn to Remix Recovery for its inclusiveness and mission to fight mental health and substance use stigma. As someone who is also in recovery, Jenny can attest that the groups are a supportive environment and benefit all involved, including the facilitators. She hopes to help further the Remix Recovery mission and make the groups accessible to more and more people over time.
Professionally, Jenny has a wide variety of experience ranging from working in dementia care and schools for children on the autism spectrum to working in higher education in libraries and disability services. She has also served as a volunteer for another mental health non-profit, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). She received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology in 2015 which has helped her have a foundational understanding of mental health. Jenny feels that she is able to utilize many skills from these previous positions in her current volunteer work and they help her further the mission of Remix Recovery. She hopes to further her education and skills by pursuing other academic programs in time, but for now is focused on her volunteer roles.

In her own life, Jenny has struggled since childhood with mental health personally and within her family unit. However, it was particularly from high school and onward that she really began to see the impact of mental health on her life. In 2011, she lost her sister to a complex medical disorder and the grief really took a toll on her mental health. Jenny has experienced Depression, Generalized Anxiety, cPTSD, Complex Grief, and OCD so she has an understanding of a wide range of mental health conditions that help her interact more compassionately with others and recognize we are complex human beings. Over the last five years, she has begun to rediscover herself and more actively heal from her mental health struggles. She hopes to provide a safe and brave space for others to do the same via Remix Recovery groups. Recovery is not possible alone, we need other people, something Jenny has experienced first hand and that drives her passion for the peer-led support model. She’s grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside others in their journeys as she also continues to pursue her own path of healing. In her free time, Jenny loves spending time with her fiancé and dog.
